We are fast approaching the 2nd running of the Music @ Mount Leinster traditional music festival in Borris Vocational School, Co. Carlow from 16th-18th February 2016.
With invited traditional groups coming from all over Ireland including Carlow, Laois, Wicklow, Sligo, Mayo and Dublin we are looking forward to the two main concerts happening during the festival on Wednesday and Thursday the 17th and 18th February:
On Wednesday 17th February a special showcase performance featuring Zoe Conway & John McIntrye, Jack Talty, David Power, Aimee Farrell-Courtney, Conor Crimmins and Niamh Dunne will take place in the Sacred Heart Church Borris@ 8pm. Admission to this concert is FREE and on a first-come first-serve basis. Donations to Music Generation Carlow will be welcome on the door.
On Thursday 18th February a concert featuring the young musicians participating in the festival will take place in the Sacred Heart Church, Borris @ 7.30pm. These young musicians will travel from Carlow, Laois, Sligo, Mayo, Wicklow and Dublin. Admission to this concert is also FREE but on a first-come first-serve basis. Donations will be welcome on the door also.
Traditional music has enjoyed a rebirth, particularly in Carlow over the past number of years, and Borris serves as the perfect location to host such an event. Against the backdrop of Mount Leinster this festival will give young musicians the opportunity to engage musically with professionals and peers across an extended period.
Please support this wonderful festival!
