Over 30 young aspiring musicians from Carlow are set to enter the world of creative music-making for 2 weeks from the 1st-14 August when they participate in the exciting Carlow Young Creatives band development project facilitated by Wall2Wall music in Scoil Mhuire gan Smal NS in Carlow.
This initiative is funded by the Music Generation/Arts Council Partnership Programme and Music Generation Carlow, and will allow the young musicians to explore the exciting world of composition, performance, sound engineering, technology, production and marketing as they aim to become stars in their own right over the course of the 2 weeks.
The young people, aged between 13-18 years, will be assisted by the team at Wall2Wall music to form their own instrumental groups. Each band will comprise of standard ‘rock/pop’ band instruments such as drums, bass & electric guitars and vocals but will also include other instruments from musical genres such as traditional Irish and jazz. One of the most exciting opportunities open to these young musicians is the chance to record their own music, working with leading producers and recording artists, and to discover more about the promotion and marketing of music today.
The Carlow Young Creatives initiative will conclude with a showcase concert which is set to take place on Sunday 14th August in the George Bernard Shaw Theatre @ 7pm.
Entry is FREE but you are advised to reserve your tickets (up to 4 tickets) well in advance by logging onto www.visualcarlow.ie or calling the box office on 059-9172400
